A Plethora of Twitter Tools!
Bitly url for this post - http://bit.ly/4YcBf

A word to the wise is sufficient.
Read the rules before you choose a “Twitter” Tool.

I love games as long as I know the rules! ;-) Like it or not, and contrary to popular opinion, it’s not love or money that makes the world go ’round; it’s advertising. I don’t have a problem with that. I actually see the value in it. So, I’m not on the “all advertising is spam” bandwagon. I also don’t care for what I call “blackmail advertising”. You know the kind where I can’t access content unless I sit through an endless loop of video ads, or have to wait for a fly-in, drop-in, crawl-up, slither-down, bounce-across-the-screen ad to land before I can even start the search for the “close this now” button. But that’s all fodder for another post. What I do have a problem with is giving a complete stranger free rein to advertise whatever they choose using my name, but that’s exactly what a lot of services, designed for use with Twitter, would like for me to do.

There’s a boatload of apps around, designed to make Twitter life nicer. I see tweets every day that say, “Don’t use fill in the blank, it’s a scam” or “Stay away from fill in the blank, they’ll spam your Twitter account.” So please, fellow Tweeters, before you sign up for a service, tool or app that promises to sweeten your Twitter experience or give you a gazillion followers, please read the rules of the site or service. There should be a link, usually on the main page, to the rules, terms of service (tos), terms of use or similar wording. Take the time to find it, read it, and then decide if you’re OK with the deal. If there’s no link to an explanation of what the service or tool or program wants in return from you, sighhh, that would be enough to make me move along immediately.
